Lee's blockbuster epic remembers the bravery and sacrifice of 71 young South Korean soldiers who stood ground against a North Korean army that vastly outnumbered them.
For smaller stories, festival favorites Lee Chang Dong and Hong Sang Soo fit the bill. Lee lured seventies movie star Yoon Jeong Hee out of retirement for the role of an inquisitive grandmother seeking solace through writing in Poetry, winner of Best Screenplay at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Hong gives audiences a good laugh with his most enjoyable work yet, HaHaHa, which took the top prize in the Cannes' Un Certain Regard section.
Other new and varied Korean films on DVD include Boys Over Flowers actress Ku Hye Sun's directorial debut Magic , pet movie Hearty Paws 2, zombie indie Neighbor Zombie, inspirational sports film A Barefoot Dream, and the period comedy The Servant starring Ryoo Seung Bum and Kim Joo Hyuk. Ryoo Seung Bum's 2004 action comedy Arahan is also coming to Blu-ray for the first time!
