Quickly Install Apps on a Clean OS using Ninite

Everyone has had the need to reformat their computers at one time or another. They might have been hit by a virus, or suffering from a very slow system, or just want to keep their computer files in order.

However, it takes time to re-install the programs that were deleted during the reformatting. Moreover, one has to be on standby to wait for the programs to install before moving on to the next.

Ninite solves this problem by allowing the user to choose the programs and applications they want to install. Ninite also automatically installs a program when another application is finished installing.

This gives users free time to watch TV or go off to the mall. Using Ninite is very easy and can practically provide a hands-free installation of selected programs.

Ninite offers a range of freeware that one could use for personal purposes, including various browsers, instant messengers, media players, image manipulation software, word processors, PDF software, security tools, utilities, compression tools, developer tools, and other software. The list of programs and applications represents the A-list of the freeware and open-source world.

To get started, go to Ninite’s Web site at http://www.ninite.com. Scroll down and you will see a long list of programs segregated by category. Tick on the programs you want to install.

After making the selections, click on the green Get Installer button found at the end of the files list.

A confirmation page listing the software you have selected will be shown.

After this, a pop-up window will appear asking you to save the installer file from Ninite.com. Click the Save File button.

This will download the customized installer to your computer. Once this is finished, open the downloaded file and run the installer.

You will then be presented with an information window telling you that setup files are being prepared. Another window will pop up asking for permission to continue with the installation.

Another window will appear to confirm that the installations of selected programs have started. Ninite downloads the setup up files and installs the programs one by one.

To see how far along the programs are installing, click on the Show details link. The window will then expand to show the status.

When you are back doing other things (like going to the mall or having a dinner with your wife and kids), you can easily check the list of programs to see that all the selected programs are there.
